After fertilization.... what next? (THE STEM CELLS)
In the process of fertilization, the genetic materials in the sperm fuses with those of the ovum reconstituting the normal cellular genetic content. From one, the fertilized ovum splits into two, then into four, then eight... At this early stage, these cells are called pluripotent cells, meaning it has the potential to be transformed into any part of the adult human body. Following our Christian Tradition, this clump of cells is afforded the status of a person in all its potentiality and therefore inviolable.
